What Should I Do?
The Bible says that the proper response to all of these truths about God and about Christ and about us is to repent and to believe.
Repent “Repent therefore, and turn again, that your sins may be blotted out.” Acts 3:19 Repentance has been defined this way; “A heartfelt sorrow for sin, a renouncing of it, and a sincere commitment to forsake it and walk in obedience to Christ.”1
Believe “Believe in the Lord Jesus and you will be saved.” Acts 16:31The word believe carries with it the act of trust or confidence that rests in the person of Jesus Christ, as Lord, and in His finished work of redemption on the cross. The Bible says; “…whoever believes in Him (Christ) will not perish but have eternal life.” John 3:16 and “Truly, truly I say to you, he who believes has eternal life.” John 6:47 The way that we believe in Christ is through faith.
Faith that leads to salvation has been described this way; “Saving faith is trust in Jesus Christ as a living person for forgiveness of sins and for eternal life with God.” 1 The Bible say; “And without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is and that He is a rewarder of those who seek Him.” Hebrews 11:6
Is God impressing upon your heart the weight of your sin and the need for forgiveness? Repent of your sin before a Holy God. Turn, and in faith believe in Jesus Christ as your Savior and Lord! The Bible says “that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.” Romans 10:9 It goes on to say that “Whoever believes on Him will not be put to shame.” Romans 10:11
Repent and Believe!
To repent of your sin and believe in Christ as Savior and Lord is to be In Christ and the Bible says that “if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.” 2 Corinthians 5:17
